ABOUT ME
NK - Nadine Khapsalis
ART FINDS YOU.
Sometimes you choose the art.
Sometimes the art chooses you...
ART IS WHAT REMAINS
I don’t paint what I see.
I paint what stays with me.
A memory.
A face.
A moment of light.
Something once felt - and never completely gone.
My work begins with photography and moves through digital transformation into the physical world of paint, texture, gold leaf and resin.
But technique is only the language.
What interests me is the trace life leaves behind.
I transform photographs into something less literal and more emotional -somewhere between reality and memory, between what happened and what we choose to remember.
Gold appears throughout my work not as decoration, but as light: something precious emerging through imperfection.
Every piece passes through my hands many times -photographed, transformed, printed, painted, covered, revealed again.
Perhaps that is why I think of my work as Soul Impressionism.
I am not trying to preserve a moment exactly as it was.
I am trying to preserve
what it felt like.
